Medical Director of the Communicable Disease Center (CDC), Dr. Muna Al Maslamani

Doha: The Medical Director of the Communicable Disease Center (CDC), Dr. Muna Al Maslamani, has said that the adherence to the preventive and precautionary measures will help in declining the spike in the positive cases of COVID-19 in the country.

“It is difficult to follow the measures of social distance in the holy month of Ramadan because the community used to make social gathering at such occasions,” said Dr. Muna Al Maslamani while talking to a Qatar TV program.

But everybody – citizen and expatriate, she said, should follow the precautionary measures to curb the growing number of positive cases of coronavirus.

“With the emergence of positive cases of COVID-19, the Ministry of Public Health stepped up tremendous efforts to screen the infected people and their contacts for early detection,” said Dr. Muna.

She said that the number of positive cases increased by expanding the screening of the chain of infection.

“The peak stretches for a while when the number of positive cases spike followed by a fall in the infected cases, but we cannot say exactly till when it will last,” said Dr. Muna.

She said that the medical cadres of the Ministry of Public Health are ready for all possible scenarios to cover the maximum number of positive cases who would need medical services.

“Most of the people do not show the symptoms of coronavirus in the beginning and they do not know about the infection whether people at worksites or in homes,” said Dr. Muna.

She said it is very important to follow the preventive and precautionary measures strictly which were recommended by the Ministry of Public Health and they are available on the website of the Ministry.

“We as individuals should comply with the measures like maintaining social distance, washing hands with soap, using sanitizers, wearing masks while going out to help decrease the chances of infection,” said Dr Muna.
