HMC launches new drive-thru anticoagulation service
Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has launched a new anticoagulation service, the first of its kind in the region, for follow-up patients at the Anticoagulation Clinic in the Heart and Pharmacy departments of Al Wakra Hospital. Patients can now conduct an anticoagulation test while in their private cars, without the need to enter the hospital and pass through several stages to get their medication.
HMC said that this service comes in line with measures being taken to control infection transmission and limit the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
In a statement, Medical Director of Al-Wakra Hospital Dr. Sabah Adnan Al-Qadi said that the new service seeks to facilitate follow-up for patients and reduce their need to come by the hospital, while maintaining the quality of treatment services provided.
He added that Al-Wakra Hospital continues to provide medical consulting services by phone to outpatient clinic patients. These services benefit residents of the southern region of the country, which is experiencing remarkable population growth, he added.
The Anticoagulation Clinic receives about two-hundred (200) referrals a month, and about 70% of them have a medical history of surgical operations, chronic diseases or elderly. This requires taking all necessary measures to protect them from infection.
