MoPH issues guidelines to keep workplaces free from Covid-19
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has intensified implementing precautionary and preventive measures in workplaces to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The Ministry has issued instructions to employers and employees in several languages to maintain safe working environment.
Dr. Asmaa Al-Nuaimi, NHS National Lead for Healthy and Safe Employees, said that the guidelines for the employers specify what they should follow in order to prevent the spread of the virus within the workplace> The instructions for employees urges them to act with caution and to follow health and safety rules.
She clarified that the instructions are in line with the procedures and awareness campaigns that have been run by the authorities in the country since the beginning of the virus outbreak, and those originated from the principle that safety is the common responsibility and by working together, steps to prevent the transmission of the virus can effectively be enforced.
The listed responsibilities of employers includes identifying the symptoms of the virus, its transmission methods, keeping the workplace clean , installing hand sanitisers, disinfecting workplace , providing the required personal protection tools, measuring the body temperature of employees using non-touch device, maintaining safe distances, suspending the use of fingerprint scan, stop receiving visitors and canceling external meetings by means of technological alternatives.
The guidelines also include stopping the hiring of external companies to provide food and drinking water for workers. The directions also recommend ensuring the mental health of the staff by taking proper steps like circulating all facts related to coronavirus and giving work flexibility and enable them to work from home. The employer should abide by national directives that include guidelines and procedures that must be followed in the event of an infection of any employee.
The Ministry also issued many important guidelines including introduction to common symptoms of coronavirus, infection methods, personal hygiene tips, a list of health habits one should follow, the need to avoid travelling and attending social events. The guidelines also say how to monitor and observe the infection and it tell them to approach health centers if symptoms appear.
