MoPH to Resume Issuing Birth Certificates
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced that requests to issue birth certificates for newborns after receiving advanced date will resume starting Sunday, April 26th, 2020.
This comes after MoPH had previously suspended issuing birth certificates on March 22, 2020 as a precautionary measure to limit the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
However, the MoPH stated that everyone must obtain a prior appointment, with the need to adhere to the specific time for each patient and all forms and documents must be filled and collected prior to the scheduled appointment. The MoPH also urged everyone to refrain from photocopying any documents inside the birth registration office.
This is due to health precautions to prevent the spread of the corona virus and in the case of non-Compliance, the appointment will be cancelled and the patient must request for a new appointment.
Anyone wishing to pick-up a birth certificate may do so by contacting registered birth registration offices in government and private hospitals from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm by contacting offices in Women’s Wellness and Research Center, Al Ahli Hospital, Sidra Medicine, Wakra Hospital and Al Khor Hospital.
