African night of laughter is back this year

Prominent African comedians are coming to Qatar next month.


It is said that good laughter elongates life and helps our bodies to generate anti-aging hormones. The African comedy show is coming back to Qatar on the 10th of August to put smiles on the faces of Qatar residents. The event will take place at Holiday Inn - The Business Park hotel and promises the visitors will laugh till their cheeks hurt.


The first edition of the show, African Comedy Festival 2022, that was supported by Qatar Tourism, Red Bull, Wumi’s, Embassies of Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda, and featured some biggest names in African comedy – Mark Angel Comedy Team from Nigeria, Patrick Idringi Salvador from Uganda, Eric Omondi from Kenya and Tumi Morake from South Africa. The event gathered over 1,000 guests including prominent VIPs and celebrities.



This year’s edition of the festival will bring together popular skit and stand-up comedians and DJs from Africa, Oga Sabinus (Mr. Funny) from Nigeria and Mammito Eunice from Kenya, DJ Diamond (Cameroon) DJ Rome (South Africa), MC Justice (Nigeria) and MC Gish (Kenya). The event will also offer the most popular delicacies from the traditional pan-African cuisines, red carpet photoshoots, opportunities to network and make new friends.


Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, better known as Oga Sabinus or Mr. Funny, started his career in 2015 and gain his mainstream success in the last four years. His comedy skits on Instagram and YouTube helped him to earn recognition far beyond the borders of his native country. Oga Sabinus was featured in multiple Nollywood movies, including “Billionaire's Bride” and “Man of War”. He has performed in several countries across the world and won numerous local and international awards. He recently won The African Content Creator Award at the Rwanda International Movie Awards 2023. His Instagram account boasts 3.7 million followers.


Eunice Wanjiru Njoki known as Mammito Eunice, is a Kenyan stand-up comedian, actress, writer and an emcee. Mammito is most popular East African female comedian, who became incredibly popular on the social media thanks to her unique sense of humour and her rib-cracking performances. She was a part of multiple prestigious events such as the Churchill Show shows in East Africa, Kigali International Comedy Festival, Seka Festival Season 4 in Rwanda, East Africa Comedy Show, Laugh Festival in Kenya and the Queens of Comedy in Botswana. Her Instagram account boasts 1.9 million followers, and her YouTube account has a quarter million subscribers from across the globe. Mammito also won multiple local and international awards.


“The idea behind this event was to bring together the African and non-African community in Qatar and introduce our culture to people of other nationalities through entertainment, - stated Mr. Famous Aluya, the General Manager of Oryx Group Entertainment, - African entertainment gained enormous popularity all over the world, and I would like to promote it here in Qatar, as well. Besides, it is a great opportunity for Qatari citizens and residents to enjoy an Afro fun evening, network and meet new people and have a good laugh together within the same space which emphasizes the oneness and peace Qatar represents”.


The event will take place at the Holiday Inn Hotel and the advance tickets will go on sale today on Q-Tickets platform with QAR 150 fee for general admission and QAR 300 for VIP experience.
