    18 Feb 2025, Doha. Qabayan Radio and the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE) Qatar Chapter have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), extending their collaboration for another year. The renewal ceremony took place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Qabayan Radio Station in Al Muntazah, Doha, Qatar. The MoU was signed by RJ Cody, Qabayan Radio Station Manager, and Engr. The audience heard from people whose lives have been touched by QF in different ways – from education and innovation to citizenship and sustainability – as they recounted their personal journeys in the form of letters beginning “Dear QF”. Among them was a letter from Dr. Mohamed Eltabakh, Principal Scientist at QF member Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s Qatar Computing Research Institute, who wrote: “Despite years of working with leading global tech companies abroad, I always felt the pull to return to the Middle East and contribute to advancing research and technological innovation in the Arab world. “When I decided to return to the Middle East, I chose Qatar Foundation because of its exceptional environment – one that nurtures research, fosters innovation, and inspires progress. I believe it stands as a model for many other countries in the region to emulate.” Immersive experiences at the event also allowed guests to hear more stories and perspectives on QF from across its diverse community, explore QF’s 30 years of impact, and take an interactive journey through the development of Education City.   • Qatar set to host the 51st UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East

    Qatar Tourism is preparing to host the 51st UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East, set to take place in Doha on February 12th. The meeting will bring together tourism ministers, senior officials, and experts from various countries in the region, as well as leadership from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).   HE Mr. Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chair of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar The selection of Doha as the host city underscores Qatar's growing status as a regional and global hub in the tourism sector and its leadership role in promoting both regional and international cooperation.   • Visit Qatar announces five-year partnership with Professional Triathletes Organisation

    From 2025 to 2029 the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final to be held in Doha Visit Qatar, the Professional Triathletes Organisation, World Triathlon, and the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation have announced the hosting of the Triathlon World Championship Finals Qatar T100 from 2025 to 2029. This comes as part of a five-year partnership agreement between Visit Qatar and the Professional Triathletes Organisation. The inaugural  Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will be held from December 11th - 13th, 2025. The swim leg will take place in the Arabian Gulf, while the bike and run legs will navigate through Doha and Lusail, passing several iconic landmarks such as the Lusail Stadium. The multisport festival weekend will also offer a series of swim, bike, and run events for amateurs, including the chance for amateur athletes to participate in the new 100km triathlon distance (2km swim, 80km bike, 18km run) alongside the best professional triathletes in the world. Commenting on the partnership, Eng. Abdulaziz   Al - Mawlawi, CEO  of Visit Qatar, said: “We are delighted to partner with the Professional Triathletes Organisation to host the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final in our vibrant cities for the next five years. The women’s field will be led by American and Belgian Olympians Taylor Knibb and Marten Van Riel, who won the inaugural T100 Triathlon World Championship Finals in Dubai, becoming the first-ever T100 series world champions. Each athlete will have to compete in at least five of the ten T100 races during the season, with their four best scores plus their result in the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final, where points will count double, contributing to their final T100 standing. This vibrant community event marked the United Nations International Day of Education, emphasising the power of community and collective action to support the EAA Foundation’s mission of providing inclusive and quality education to marginalised children around the world.   Running from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the event brought together individuals, families, corporations, and organisations for a day filled with fun, engagement, and meaningful purpose to support education. Representing Qabayan Radio at the signing ceremony was Events Manager Mr. John Martin, while FCPL Qatar was represented by its president, Mr. Rommel Elarcosa.   • ‘Walk for Education’ on January 24 to Support Assalam Schools

    100% of proceeds from the family event will be used to support Assalam Schools, providing free education to children in Qatar Doha, Qatar—21 January 2025: The Assalam Schools, a flagship initiative of the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation under its Together Project, is transforming lives by providing free education to marginalised children and youth in Qatar. Since their inception, these tuition-free institutions have empowered over 18,000 students from diverse Arab and non-Arab communities, ensuring fair access to quality education and transforming countless lives. Working in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and High Education and supported by local donors, the 5 Assalam Schools have come a symbol of hope and resilience. Enrolment across the Assalam Schools network has grown by over 60%, with an impressive attendance rate of 89%. These schools offer flexible learning options, including dual shifts, adult education, mainstream schooling, and homeschooling, catering to the diverse needs of students. Assalam Schools represent a second chance at life for children like 15-year-old Mohammad, who arrived in Qatar from Syria in 2022. Mohammad overcame significant challenges, including recovering from heart surgery and adapting to a new environment. Joining the Fifth Assalam School in Grade 7, alongside his siblings in Grades 5 and 1, he rediscovered his love for learning. "Being back in school renewed my interest in my favorite subjects – English and Science,” he shared. His teacher, Mr. Elias Al Hariri described him as “a talented student who approaches challenges with optimism and is eager to reclaim the knowledge he missed.” The Assalam Schools have also become a safe haven for children like Haneen, a 10-year-old who fled the civil war in Yemen. Initially struggling to adjust, Haneen has thrived academically and is now a top student in Grade 6 at the Fifth Assalam School. She dreams of becoming a teacher and hopes to one day contribute to rebuilding her homeland.   As part of its commitment to expanding access to quality education, EAA Foundation’s Together Project is introducing two groundbreaking initiatives for the academic year 2025-26. The Fourth Assalam School will apply two curricula: the Cambridge curriculum and Qatar’s National Curriculum for Grades 1-6 students from different nationalities. Simultaneously, the Sixth Assalam School will pioneer programs for children with moderate to severe disabilities, offering a tailored, adaptive curriculum and innovative learning methods such as online classes, home tutor visits, and occasional school trips. These initiatives represent a first in Qatar and demonstrate the Education Above All Foundation’s commitment to inclusive education. EAA Foundation invites the public to join the ‘Walk for Education’ event at MIA Park to support these transformative initiatives. The event will feature three symbolic walks around the park at 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 7:00 PM, alongside a range of exciting activities, including football tournaments, art competitions, bouncy castles, raffles, stage performances, food carts, and stalls highlighting corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.     Doha, Qatar — The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers Qatar Chapter (PSME-Q) and the National Master Plumbers’ Association of the Philippines Qatar Chapter (NAMPAP-Q) have renewed their partnership with Qabayan Radio, solidifying their shared commitment for mutual benefits and to serving the Filipino community in Qatar. The renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) took place on January 8, 2025, at Qabayan Radio’s office. The ceremony was attended by Engr. Herlou S. Binghay, President of PSME-Q, Engr. Edmondo C. Conanan, President of NAMPAP-Q, and Qabayan Radio Station Manager RJ Cody.
