  • CRA Showcases Qatar’s Regulatory Expertise at the Global Symposium for Regulators 2023

    Sharm El-Sheikh, June 7, 2023: The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), representing the State of Qatar, is taking part in the Global Symposium for Regulators 2023 (GSR-23). This Symposium is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with the Government of Egypt and held in Sharm El-Sheikh from 5-8 June 2023 under the theme: “Regulation for a Sustainable Digital Future.” The GSR-23 is built around interactive high-level panels that address current and cutting-edge policy and regulatory issues, such as novel regulatory approaches for digital transformation, trustworthy and resilient digital infrastructure, online child and youth safety, digital accessibility, going green with the digital transformation, and harnessing the opportunities of the metaverse. GSR-23 also features the Executive Heads of Regulators’ Roundtable, the Regional Regulatory Associations Meeting (RA), and the Industry Advisory Group on Development Issues and Private Sector Chief Regulatory Officers’ (IAGDI-CRO) meeting. CRA is keen to actively engage in the meetings held under the ITU’s umbrella, particularly the GSR. This event offers regulators and policymakers from around the world a valuable opportunity for discussions and exchanging perspectives and insights among peers and other stakeholders. The GSR facilitates discussing ways of cooperation and checking the current best practices in the field. In preparation for the event, CRA has submitted its contribution to the draft GSR-23 Best Practice Guidelines Consultation, which focuses on “Regulatory and economic incentives for an inclusive sustainable digital future”.   • Khazaen Seals 50 Million USD Investment Deal in Logistics Industry

    Khazaen Economic City has recently secured another foreign direct investment agreement from Al Seeb Technical (SARRCO), a subsidiary of Al Mana Holding - Qatari Group. The agreement aims to establish an integrated logistics center that will offer a wide range of storage and distribution services to the surrounding areas. The investment is valued at an estimated $50 million (OMR 19 million), covering a total project area of 37,000 square meters. This new deal brings the total investment value in Khazaen Economic City to over half a billion dollars in various sectors, including logistics, food, industrial, pharmaceutical, energy, and residential. It demonstrates Khazaen's strong economic potential, as it continues to attract significant investments and innovation from both local and international businesses. As Khazaen continues to grow, this investment agreement will also create new job opportunities and economic growth in the region, further strengthening Oman's position as a leading player in the global economy. Khazaen Economic City: Khazaen is an integrated economic city being developed Barka, Al Batinah South Governorate, Sultanate of Oman.
